Course Description and Documents
Module 1: Introduction To Medical Cannabis
The module will introduce the body’s endocannabinoid system, a key system that helps regulate many functions such as mood, sleep, and appetite. In addition, the module offers a basic explanation of key components of cannabis, including cannabinoids like THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (Cannabidiol), and how they may interact with the body.
Module 2: Cannabis As A Medicine
This module provides a practical overview of how medical cannabis is used today. It outlines the current state of scientific evidence supporting medical cannabis use and reviews the various forms of cannabis that can be used.
Module 3: Guide To Prescribing For Healthcare Providers
This module covers key considerations when prescribing medical cannabis to support safe and effective care.
Module 4: Introduction To MyMedi.ca’s Medical Cannabis Care Platform – with Samantha Aitken
This education session will provide an overview of the MyMedi.ca medical portal, give insight into our unique pharmacist support program, educational initiatives, evidence-driven formulary, and insurance & adjudication services.
